Recently, the issue about the speciality of Jogjakarta became trend in press. This issue is triggered by President SBY's speech that pertained about the monarchy system in Jogjakarta which is inappropriate with the democracy system in Indonesia.
There is an interesting thing that can be observed in this issue. If we analyze about the democracy system, we can make a conclusion that the core of this system is freedom and to respect all side. It's means that every people free to give their opinion, just like in country which deify democracy, USA. But, what happened in Jogjakarta is a paradox of the democracy application. In one side, the government want that democracy can be applied in Jogjakarta, so "ordinary men" will have an opportunity to become a leader (governor) in that province. But, on the other side, the government doesn't respect the opinion/eagerness of Jogja people who want the monarchy system, which is the opponent of democracy system, still be applied in framework of Jogjakarta speciality. Here, the democracy try to betray it's own principal, and become a what Indonesian call "senjata makan tuan". Therefore, we can make a question, "do democracy system, which try to respect/tolerate all group/side, will capable to tolerate one group, that is anti-democracy group?". This is the "bug" of democracy system.
"Bug" is a weakness of a system, and this term is often used in computer system. A similar "bug" with a democracy system I also found in other system that have a spirit to tolerate, to respect, and to be friend with all group in society. In a religious system, there is a term "pluralism" that aimed to unified differences in the country with various religion, and various understanding and study of religion, just like Indonesia. However, I'm sure that this concept of pluralism will not tolerate to a group of people who argue pluralism. People who believe that there is only one religion is true. This is also the paradox of the pluralism concept and pointing that it's false. And I'm belonging to people who disagree with pluralism, because it's wrong. I believe that my religion(Islam) have regulate how we live with people with different religion, and it's different with the concept of pluralism that manifests recently.
So, the conclusion of this writing is that in my opinion, both democracy and pluralism system is wrong.
